DynamicEdge US
Montclair State University Arena is proud to present DynamicEdge U.S. DynamicEdge is a power skating clinic designed by Olympic figure skaters Kristen Fraser and Igor Lukanin especially geared toward increasing the skating ability of hockey players.
Most hockey players struggle with on ice balance, often relying on two feet and even more on their sticks. As a result, this crutch decreases players speed during changes of direction and increases their lack of mobility while trying to navigate opponents from one end of the rink to the other; all the while affecting game time performance.
DynamicEdge power skating clinic will take hockey players though several stages of skating skill development, effectively changing their game, as they know it.
Stage 1: Will increase one-footed balance and help players become aware of both edges of the blade.
Stage 2: Will teach skaters multiple types of turns used to change direction of skating without loosing speed.
Stage 3: Will allow skaters to understand how to navigate the ice with ease and out maneuver their opponents, therefore, possibly avoiding physical contact, further decreasing the possibility of getting injured.
Please visit DynamicEdge.US to learn more about this unique clinic, watch clips of hockey skating success, and find out what participants and enthusiasts have to say about this great experience.
Quick inside edges help to navigate across the ice with speed, unpredictability and agility. Hockey players must be balanced athletes and agility is being able not to lose your balance - you fall, you waste time. Single-leg force and strength are required to turn and corner, since two blades are rarely in contact with the ice. Good training will look to increase core stabilization to directly improve a player's maneuverability. Coach Igor Lukanin places his students in unstable and compromising situations while working their focus as it significantly affects balance. Eye focus in hockey is away from your center of gravity, so there's a lot of room for you to become unbalanced very quickly which is why these forward inside twizzles around cones is so important. These turns also help to improve agility and prevent an impact with an opponent.
